Insider Tip

A visit to the two large auction houses in Jersey makes an interesting day out. They sell everything from Old Masters to modern cars and provide a social occasion for Islanders.

Key Area

Adjacent to the old marina in St Helier harbour, you'll find shops catering for those who love the sea. As well as boating gear and fishing tackle, there is also clothing and footwear.

This month

The Romantics in the Channel Islands art exhibition continues at Jersey Museum. It includes works by John Le Capelain, Peter Le Lievre and Sarah Louisa Kilpack, as well as 20th- and 21st-century artists.

Day Tripping

Alderney – It costs about £90 return for the 10-minute flight to Alderney, the most northerly Channel Island. It's a great place to unwind but it can also be quite lively with lots of pubs, a golf course and good restaurants.
