Shop

Insider Tip

A great way to spend a grey Sunday is by heading to one of the world’s leading art galleries—the Pinakothek costs just €1 on Sunday (www.pinakothek.de).

Key Area

A district in the west of the city, Neuhausen is a good place to experience the real Munich, away from the tourists. Browse the quaint shops, buzzing bars and top-class restaurants.

This month

Even if you're not into cycling, the famous Six-Day Race in the Olympiahalle is worth catching. As well as bags of adrenalin, the event offers plenty of off-track entertainment, including a world food fair (6-11 November. 21 Spiridon-Louis-Ring).

Day Tripping

Garmisch-Partenkirchen – Get an early taste of winter fun with a trip to Germany’s premier ski resort at Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Enjoy some skiing or attempt an exhilarating hike over the glacier. Trains leave Munich every hour.

No way!

Munich is home to the oldest brewery in the world—Weihenstephan has been brewing its ale since 725 AD.
