Insider Tip

Adapt to the Greek way of life while you're in Mykonos. Don't be surprised if everything takes a little more time than you expect—just relax and go with the flow!

Key Area

Little Venice, east of the port, is known to locals as Aleukantras and captures all the passion, simplicity and elegance that the Greek islands have to offer. Built right at the edge of the sea, lounge on the terraces of 18th-century houses as you sip Greek wine.

This month

October is a great time to visit Mykonos if you fancy a true Greek experience without lots of tourists getting in the way! The island is relatively quiet as the season ends midway through the month. It's the perfect time to enjoy the legendary Little Venice sunset in peace, without the cruise-ship masses.

Day Tripping

Delos  – Hop on the morning ferry to Delos (Tickets: €12), the mythical island, around which the Cyclades Islands are formed. The birthplace of the god Apollo and his sister Artemis, this is an unmissable day trip. Marvel at the centuries-old ruined village, statues and more at one of the most significant archaeological sites in the Mediterranean.

No way!

Mykonos is famed for its attractive whitewashed chapels. There are said to be a whopping 365 in total—one for every day of the year!
