This small club playing alternative electro sounds attracts well-known record spinners such as DJ Pandora. The location alone is worth a visit.

Shop

If you are looking for something unique and typically Austrian, visit Jahn Markl, a specialist shop offering suede leather clothing, bags and accessories (3 Residenzplatz. Tel. 0662 842 610).

Insider Tip

Demel is one of the coolest pâtisseries in town. It offers an eclectic mix of traditional Austrian, international and in-house specialities. The pastel-coloured walls and furniture create a warm atmosphere (2 Mozartplatz. Tel. 0662 840 358).

Key Area

Alter Markt in the city centre is one of the liveliest spots in Salzburg. Enjoy the vibrant atmosphere while browsing, then treat yourself to a piece of cake at a nearby café.

Visit Paul Klee—Melody and Rhythm at the Museum of Modern Art. The exhibition’s central theme is the Swiss-born Expressionist artist’s passion for music (Museum der Moderne, Rupertinum, 9 Wiener Philharmoniker Gasse. Tel. 0662 842 2200).

Day Tripping

Werfen – Catch the train to the village of Werfen and visit the biggest ice cave in the world, the Eisriesenwelt. Another marvellous sight is the 11th-century castle Hohenwerfen, which is definitely worth a visit.
