Airport Information


  • Holiday Taxis (easyJet.holidaytaxis.com) take you from home to the airport, then city or destination.

  • Take bus 200 from outside Arrivals to the final stop, Köbánya-Kispest station, for the metro to the centre. Tickets: HUF 300 single (you'll need two for the journey).

  • Visit the Europcar desk on arrival for special easyJet inflight rates.

  • A taxi costs about HUF3,500-HUF4,800 to the centre.

  • Trains leave Terminal 1 for Western station, arriving within 30 minutes. Tickets: HUF300.

  • You'll find textiles, furniture, accessories and interior design items by local artists who work in the shop at Eventuell. It also offers a made-to-order service in case you'd prefer another colour or material (7 Nyáry Pál Utca. Tel. 318 6926).
  • Summer on the Chain Bridge is a free festival located right on the bridge every weekend in July with plenty of open-air concerts and other performances, handcrafts for sale, and food and drink to keep you going well into the night.
  • Margaret Island is a sure bet in summer - with an open-air stage, the mineral baths, ample space for jogging and picnics and bikes you can rent.
  • Not just for the kids, the Hungarian Railway Museum is the perfect way to while away a day, with more than 100 railway vehicles and plenty of hands-on exhibits (95 Tatai Ut, XIV. Tel. 238 0658).

Tips

  • Some of the medicinal waters that Hungary is famous for are mildly radioactive, although it would take daily exposure of several hours to make them dangerous. So go ahead and indulge!
