Tony Singh's latest venture provides a value-for-money combination of good European and Indian cuisine. The eponymous table is a communal affair, but there is also conventional bistro seating.

  • Top second-hand retro and vintage clothing for boys and girls - with that added misty-eyed bonus for those who are slightly older - can be found at The Rusty Zip. Glittering outfits, tight-fits and loud shirts from floor to ceiling (14 Teviot Place. Tel. 0131 226 4634).
  • While the rest of Edinburgh holds its breath in anticipation of the Fringe, The Stand is already laughing with comedy gigs every night of the week (5 York Place, New Town. Tel. 0131 558 7272).
  • Rise above the summer haze with a wander around Calton Hill and its views back over the New Town to the Castle. There's plenty of space to chill out, too.
  • The National Museum of Flight, at East Fortune Airfield, is a 20-minute drive East of Edinburgh and home to Scotland's Concorde which you can see round (Tel. 0131 247 4238).

Tips
