Airport Information


  • Holiday Taxis (easyJet.holidaytaxis.com) take you from home to the airport, then city or destination.

  • The Aerobus leaves from outside the Arrivals Lounge and goes through Funchal to the main Hotel area finishing at Praia Formosa. There are eleven services daily beginning at 09.45.Tickets €5 per person.

  • Visit the Europcar desk on arrival for special easyJet inflight rates.

  • A journey to the centre costs around €25-€30 and takes 25-30 minutes.

  • Bazar Guanabara is an interesting souvenir shop that sells typical Madeiran goods, from embroidery to cakes, Madeira wine to trinkets and banana liquor (12 Rua do Bom Jesus. Tel. 291 225 936).
  • Music fans should head to the annual Funchal Jazz Festival in the Quinta Magnolia Gardens. Big names come from all over the world to play a broad selection of jazz styles (2-4 July).
  • Starting from the beach at Praia Formosa, stroll along the coastal esplanade that meanders beside the coastline and takes you to the Lido. Signs along the way offer tips on how to get the most out of your walk.

  • Before Funchal airport was extended and modernised in 2000, it was one of the smallest airports in the world, with a runway of just 1,600 metres.
