  • The Peter Murray store at the new Nueva Condomina Shopping Centre is a great place to pick up some trendy items for both men and women (www.peter-murray.com).
  • The Gran Via Escultor Salzillo is the city centre's main arterial route. It has department stores and smaller shops, and is an access point to a number of atmospheric narrow streets which branch off into the heart of the Old Town. Also a good place to find a restaurant or bar.
  • A free exhibition of sculptures by Auguste Rodín is on at the MURAM modern art museum in Cartagena. More than 50 works are on show, including pieces by his muse Camille Claudelle and pupil Emile-Antoine Bourdelle.
  • Puerto de Mazarrón is an attractive fishing port, less than an hour's drive from the city. There are some great seafood restaurants in the port area and sandy beaches, such as the Playa Grande, look out onto the spectacular Bay of Mazarron. A mile to the south is Bolnuevo - weird and wonderful rock formations.
