  • Quarto de Cima is an alternative clothes, accessories and shoe shop selling items at prices to suit all pockets. Many are by local designers (544 Rua do Almada).
  • Throughout this month, the Fundação de Serralves is featuring exhibitions of work by Daniel Buren, Jacques-Émile Ruhlmann and Pedro Barateiro. The site is surrounded by a beautiful park and includes a pink art-deco villa (210 Rua D João de Castro. Tel. 22 615 6500).
  • The Palácio de Cristal park offers beautiful views of the river, peaceful areas for a stroll, interesting architecture and a chapel built to honour a Sardinian king.

Tips

  • It is often thought that the Don Luis Bridge was designed by the famous French designer Gustave Eiffel, but it was designed by his student Théophile Seyrig. Porto does have a bridge by Eiffel: the Dona Maria Pia railroad bridge, no longer in use.
