This month...

  • Babette's is a foodie's paradise selling top-quality spices and cookbooks. Luckily, the shop's got its own restaurant, too, as the books will undoubtedly get your tummy rumbling (17 Schleifmuhlgasse. www.babettes.at, German only).
  • It's no secret that Vienna is a hub of cultural activity, and this month is no exception when the ImPulsTanz Festival showcases the best of international contemporary dance and performance (16 July-16 August. www.impulstanz.com).
  • Smooch with your loved one in the famous Prater park Riesenrad (ferris wheel) à la Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy in Before Sunrise. Those not into recreating soppy films are nonetheless guaranteed a laugh at this historic amusement park.
  • Stretch those inevitably torte-filled limbs at the Wienerwald (Vienna Woods) spanning more than 1,000 square kilometres. Thankfully, its closest point to the city is easily accessible by public transport.

Tips

top
  • Move aside Zurich and Geneva. According to Mercer's Quality of Living survey, Vienna is now the best place to live in the world.
