This month...

  • Dig into the fascinating collection of literature, in both Polish and English, at café-bookshop Czuly Barbarzynca. Moleskin journals, rare in this part of the world, are also available (31 Ulica Dobra. czulybarbarzynca.pl, Polish only).
  • Celebrate midsummer at Wianki. Live music and fireworks are just some of the attractions at this massive bash by the Vistula River (20 June).
  • Following its recent makeover, former Krakowskie Przedmiescie Street is now a real stunner. An evening stroll is almost obligatory.
  • Kampinos National Park is just a few minutes' drive away, north-west of Warsaw. It's possible to spot elk, beavers and cranes from one of the many cycling and walking trails.

Tips

top
  • Jaywalking may be a favourite sport in some parts of the world, but Warsaw's cops are not amused. Avoid a fine (and getting squashed) by finding a crosswalk and following the traffic lights.
